Graduation.

6-10-16 VERMONT: We’ve been here a couple of days. It’s Lily’s graduation, and we’re prepping for her grad party on Saturday. Alison, Anna, Dan, Gardner and other family members expected tonight and tomorrow.

Our old lawn mower has gone out of the landscaping business and, we had to contact the new guys to do the lawn before the party. The grass was up to eight inches high, but now is perfect. Andy will mow the front of the pasture for parking for the 60 or so expected guests.

I have treated the pond, weeded, pruned, and weed whacked. The pond bank by the new primrose bed was caving in, so I buttressed it with big rocks from the rock pile.

The hardy hibiscus that I planted last year is actually alive and putting out new shoots. I bought two catalpa trees at Browns Nursery, a small one to take to NJ and larger one for here to plant next week when we’re back for the summer.

New blooms: Wentworth viburnum, linden viburnum, columbine, meadow rue, knapweed, centaurea, chives, rogersia, yellow flag iris, Siberian iris, Solomon seal, false Solomon seal, three leaf Solomon seal, roses, Asian lilac, lupin, clover, thyme, bishops weed, weigela, bunchberry.

Azaleas still look good.

Eastern Phoebe likes that fence post.

Brady in the buttercups.

Bally almost lost.

Gus in the grass.
