Jersey Shore.

4-3-16 SHORT HILLS: Yesterday we made one of our periodic pilgrimages to the Jersey Shore to visit friends Bob and Christine at their almost beachfront house in Lavallette. The day was cold, windy and mostly overcast. I was the only one who braved the beach for a brief peek. There was a lot of haze, a mix of blowing sand and blowing spume. The surf was moderate and a couple guys in wet suits were surfing. There were gulls but no terns.

Perhaps anticipating retirement, Bob and Christine have upgraded to a larger house in Seaside Park. We got a tour of the new digs. Later it was out to an Italian restaurant before we came home to the dogs with sandy shoes.

Today it is cold, thirties, sunny and very windy, gusts into the fifties. The yard is again littered with sticks, twigs, branches and debris. We took the dogs around the block in the mid-afternoon when the wind dropped a bit. It’s too nasty for yard work.

New blooms: bleeding heart.

Looking north into the haze. That black dot near the right edge is a surfer.
